By linking the site’s significant history, architecture and landscape enter into a dialogue defined by restrained design and clarity—on the one hand to offer travellers an atmosphere of calm and rest, providing a counterbalance to the dynamism of the motorway, and on the other to step back in deference to the historic Fürstenhügel, the namesake and protagonist of this place. The building’s material concept focused on a small selection of durable construction materials such as metal, wood, and concrete, presenting visitors—both outside and inside—with surfaces that are as natural as possible, with an appealing look and feel. In collaboration with MONO Architekten, we were able—through the careful selection of furnishings—to provide guests with the desired high quality of stay in a calm ambience.
