Sächsische Landesbibliothek — Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Dresden (SLUB)

The Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB) epitomises the transformation of modern educational institutions. Where silence once dominated, spaces for dialogue and collaborative learning are now emerging. Together with Gabriel Bensch and Andrea Horezky from Bensch Horezky GbR and on the basis of an intensive user survey by Paulsberg, we were able to help shape this change in the SLUB forum.

The task: flexible spaces for diverse needs - without structural interventions, solely through furnishings and customised installations. Inspired by a playing field where every discipline has its place, materials and colours define clear zones for concentrated work and lively dialogue.

High-quality furniture groups, versatile seating and standing options as well as precisely manufactured fixtures characterise the new forum - a place that grows with its users and makes new forms of learning possible.
